Course Description
This qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the movement and assistance of people and is intended as a further development qualification. It is also suitable as refresher training.
This is underpinned by the safe principles of moving and handling but recognises the special skills required when assisting and moving people.
What is covered on this course?
This qualification will provide learners with the skills, knowledge and understanding required for those working in areas/sectors where the assistance and movement of people is part of their role. The objective of the qualification is to prepare learners for employment or to support a role in the workplace. The qualification is suitable for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in the movement of people safely, as well as being a suitable qualification for safety refresher training. This qualification covers the safe moving and handling principles for both objects/load and the assistance of moving people.
Unit 1: Manual handling safety at work
- Understand the reasons for safe manual handling
- Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
- Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
- Be able to apply safe manual handling principles.
Assessed through a practical examination and a 30-minute multiple-choice examination.
Unit 2: Moving people safely
- Understand the personal safety health and dignity issues relating to the movement of a person by others
- Understand how a personal handling plan and risk assessment reduce the risk of injury to everyone involved in moving a person
- Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with moving people safely
- Be able to apply safe principles when moving a person
Assessed through a practical examination and a 30-minute multiple-choice examination.
Successful learners will gain a certificate for this course. All learners will abe given The Level 2 Safe Manual Handling handbook.
Where is this course held?
The 2 day course will be held in London or Essex and will be within walking distance of the train station. We are also able to deliver this course at your premises for groups of 8 or more people. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Course Information
- This course starts at 9:30am. Please arrive at least 15mins early.
- This course will finish at 4:30pm so please ensure you have made arrangements to stay to this time before you are booked on the course.
- At the start of the course you will be required to show one form of ID (Passport or Driving Licence).
